Buena Vista Woods Bulletin Board

What is the Buena Vista Woods Bulletin Board

It is a service brought to you by the joint efforts of the Emerald Forest and Diamond Cove Homeowners Associations and the Emerald Forest webmaster.  The purpose is to provide a forum for you to place a personal ad similar to a classified in the newspaper.  The difference is this is limited to Emerald Forest and Diamond Cove residents only.  What is it NOT is a place to post comments, complaints, or opinions, slanderous or otherwise, nor anything that could be considered illegal or offensive to any person, place, business, or group, or deemed inappropriate by the Emerald Forest webmaster.  Should you enter into any prohibited actions, the Emerald Forest webmaster, under the jurisdiction of the Emerald Forest, Diamond Cove, and Buena Vista Woods Homeowners Board, has the right to deny access to any individual homeowner based on their unapproved use of the Bulletin Board.  You are required to read and agree to the Terms of the Buena Vista Woods Bulletin Board in order to participate in its use.

You will find 4 categories: For Sale, Items Wanted, Babysitters/Petsitters, and Miscellaneous.  The For Sale category can be used to sell anything from a fish tank to a car.  In the same way, use the Items Wanted choice when you are in search of an item.  Use the category of Babysitters/Petsitters whether you are offering the service or in need of the service.  To make your intent clear, you may want to start your ad with BABYSITTER WANTED, or BABYSITTER SERVICES OFFERED.  The Miscellaneous category can be used for anything that doesn't fit in the first 3.  Examples would be looking for a 4th for your foursome, or recommending your lawn service or housekeeper because of their expert service.

Remember, when placing an ad, be sure to include some way to be contacted such as your phone number, address, or email.  Otherwise how will someone get a hold of you?  When your ad is no longer relevant, as after you have sold an item, be sure to delete your ad.  Also note, homeowners place the ads, and homeowners remove their own ads.  Accordingly, there are Terms of Use that are associated with this service that you must accept in order to utilize this portion of the website.

This service is also used to view the Neighborhood Directory and Neighborhood Watch Block Captains.  In order to view this information you have to share your information.

Finally, this service will allow voting to take place.  As the need arises to have the community vote on a non-binding issue, you will need to be a registered user in order to cast your vote.  Welcome to the Buena Vista Woods Bulletin Board!

Typical Problems / Questions

Problem: My Email/Password combination doesn't let me in.
Remember that both the email address and the password are case-sensitive.  You must enter them each time the way you originally entered them.

Problem: I know my Email address, but I can't remember my password.
Look for the line on the Buena Vista Woods Secured Access page that says If you have forgotten your password, send an email to the webmaster.  Include in your email the problem you are having and the webmaster will contact you.

Problem: I will no longer need to access the Bulletin Board.  How can I remove my email address?
Log on and go to the Buena Vista Woods Bulletin Board main menu.  Here you will find an option to permanently delete your email address from the database.  Remember, this option is permanent.  If you choose to remove your email address, you will no longer be permitted to add or view items.

Problem: I get an error message when trying to add an item.
Send your ad to the webmaster for review and you will be contacted for assistance.

Question: What does the Yes/No field Participate in Directory mean?
Emerald Forest and Diamond Cove have moved from distributing a printed version of the directory to an online version.  This will save costs, reduce errors, and allow for timely information.  Choosing Y to this option indicates you wish to participate in the online Emerald Forest or Diamond Cove Neighborhood Directory.  Since this information is password protected and available only to registered residents living in your neighborhood, it is as safe as the printed version.  Why would you want to participate in the Neighborhood Directory?  For the same reason you participated in the paper version.  It is an opportunity for you to get to know your neighbors.  Being a good neighbor is what makes for a quality neighborhood.  We all want a quality neighborhood.  Many people use it to call their neighbor about participating in a garage sale.  It is often used when calling a playmate of your child.  You know they are playing at a neighbor's house, and you know their name, but you forgot to get the phone number.  The uses are endless.    Participating in the online directory is no different than participating in the old paper version.  Your information is limited to residents of your neighborhood.  If you provided your name to the directory, you were eligible to receive a directory containing your neighbor's information.  The same rules apply here.  Once you have viewed the directory, you will no longer be permitted to change your option to N.  Again, this is no different than the paper version.

Question: What does the Yes/No field NW Block Captain mean?
If you are a Neighborhood Watch Block Captain, please choose Y.  If you are not, leave the default of N.  This option is used in the Neighborhood Directory online search.  When a neighbor wants to limit their search to block captains only, so they can disseminate timely information about a security issue, this will allow them to quickly locate their block captain to share that important information.  If you indicate you are a Block Captain, your information will be available on a Block Captain search regardless of your Participate in Directory selection.
